History of AIESEC Russia

1989 - ...


In 1989, AIESEC has been opened in the USSR. Among the priorities of AIESEC USSR in the 90s was the discovery of the world for the Soviet Union, the development of personal and professional contacts with foreign countries, familiarity with the peculiarities of doing business in different countries, through international youth exchange program in the professional field and holding events - conferences, forums, Career Days - aimed to improve the professional competence of students.



Since the early 2000s, the principal directions of AIESEC in Russia is to develop the leadership potential of young people within the intercultural dialogue, and therefore to increase the role of international youth exchange in the social sector and increase the number of ongoing social projects.



 

Our history:

At the moment, AIESEC operates in 27 cities in Russia and works with more than 150 universities. 2,000 members of the organization are students and recent university graduates.

Over the last 5 years (from 01.01.2007 to 31.12.2012), we organized 5592 international exchanges: 2982 incoming and 2610 outgoing internships.

 

Our achievments:

In August 2012, for the first time we held the largest event of the organizatin dedicated to the development of international youth cooperation - 64th International Congress of AIESEC in Moscow. 1045 congress participants were young people and business leaders from 113 countries of the world. The Congress was supported by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Rossotrudnichestvo, Rosmolodezh, the Department of Culture of Moscow, the Moscow School of Management "Skolkovo" (University), MFA Russia, PepsiCo Russia, JSC "Russian Railways", OJSC "Alfa-Bank", Public Diplomacy Fund Name AM Gorchakov and the other 45 partners. The Congress brought together three parallel conferences and six special events. Congress website www.ic2012.ru.

Within the platform of 64-th International Congress there was organized the first in the history "Global Youth Voice Conference", which purpose is to develop international youth cooperation, its role globally and specific opportunities for young people to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. The conference brought together 215 young leaders from 35 countries and 30 regions of Russia, the leaders and representatives of youth organizations, non-profit and non-governmental organizations, leaders of social and business projects, voluntary movements, the creators of the social movements and initiatives.

In 2010, AIESEC in Russia, decided to organize an annual forum of young leaders "YouLead", which from year to year will help young people to develop personal and professional competencies and is use them for the benefit of the country. In 2011, the geography of the Forum was expanded to 8 cities in Russia, and in 2012, the forum YouLead was holden in 13 cities in Russia. The purpose of the Forum is to create a space in which young people learn about new trends in the selected area, meet with experts from various fields, find minded collaboration and implementation. YouLead as a platform gives an opportunity for ambitious young leader to determine the direction in which he wants to build his career.

In 2007, 2009 and 2011, AIESEC Russia was considered the best entity in the "Central and Eastern Europe."

In the world ranking of AIESEC countries where AIESEC we take 6th place in the number exchanges realized, the level of implementation of the projects and the dynamics of regional development.
